About this shelf

Ursula K. Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness took both the Hugo and the Nebula, and it's still one of the landmarks of science fiction. Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle, an alternate history where the Axis won the war, won the Hugo. Daniel Keyes's Flowers for Algernon won the Hugo as a story and the Nebula as a novel. Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale won the first Arthur C. Clarke Award, and its sequel The Testaments won the Booker Prize.

This Is How You Lose the Time War took the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus for Best Novella. Orson Scott Card's Speaker for the Dead won the Hugo and Nebula, making him the first author to take both awards in consecutive years. Ken Grimwood's Replay won the World Fantasy Award. Ben Okri's The Famished Road won the Booker Prize, and Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children won the Booker and was later named the best winner in the prize's history, twice. Le Guin's The Wind's Twelve Quarters contains the Hugo-winning "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" and the Nebula-winning "The Day Before the Revolution."
